About Y+M Films
It all started when…
I went to the Dominican Republic for a summer internship. The non-profit I interned for, Esperanza International, had a need for video engagement. In response, I paid for a camera with some money I made selling knives (yup… Cutco). That summer, I taught myself videography and ultimately produced a 3 minute “About Esperanza” video. A few months later, I used that video to convince my college (TCU - go Frogs) to let me film Needtobreathe for a school concert (mostly so I could watch from the pit).
Suddenly, I had a portfolio. Underwhelming, definitely, but still a portfolio.
Fast forward another 6 months, and I used the “About Esperanza” and Needtobreathe videos to land my first wedding.
I graduated college, married my best buddy, moved to Denver, started a job as an analyst, jumpstarted Y+M Films, and filmed some more weddings.
I’d like to film your wedding, too.
We touch on this a lot more in our blog post here, but at our core, we are really passionate about marriage. We think it’s a blessing, and we believe it is a relationship that has power to deeply impact our culture. Within marriage, it’s sometimes fun and easy, and other times it demands work and commitment. It’s important to have reminders, or ‘touch stones’, in those valleys to keep you grounded.
We view each wedding video as a little touch stone about why you said “YES” to this thing in the first place. A reminder of your why you said yes to the adventure-filled, joyful, challenging, and character-building journey marriage entails.
